Do I need an API key or my own LLM subscription?
No. Reading, filling in, and running prompts and workflows is clipboard-driven — PromptKit gives you the exact text to paste into whatever you already use (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, a local model), and tracks your progress and inputs locally as you go. The one exception is Customize, which does call a model on your behalf, using PromptKit’s own backend — you never need your own API key for it either. Nothing else on PromptKit calls a model for you.
What does "battle-tested" actually mean?
It’s a measurement, not a label. A prompt or workflow only earns battle-tested status once it has 25 or more recorded “worked for me” runs — that status can’t be hand-edited into the content. Everything else is honestly marked draft or tested until it earns more.
What's the difference between curated and community content?
Curated content is written and reviewed like code — version controlled, validated against a schema, synced from source — and is PromptKit’s own library, mostly Pro. Community content is posted by any signed-in user through the compose form, and is completely free and unlimited to browse, everyone, always. Both are clearly labeled; community posts are never passed off as curated.
Why is most of PromptKit's library Pro instead of free?
A small, hand-picked sample stays free for everyone — one prompt per use case, a few high-value workflows, and one full guided runner — so you can see exactly what PromptKit is before paying for anything. The rest of the curated library is what Pro actually sells. This is separate from the community feed, which is entirely user-posted and stays free and unlimited regardless of your subscription.
Is reading and saving free?
A curated free sample is — one PromptKit prompt per use case, plus a few high-value workflows, clearly marked. The community feed (anything posted by another user) is completely free and unlimited to browse, always. The rest of PromptKit’s own library, plus the guided runner, needs Pro, which also adds private prompts, full version history on your own posts, and saved run history. See Pricing for details.
What does "Customize this prompt" do?
It’s free for everyone, signed in or not — on every prompt and step, describe what you want changed (more formal, a different audience, an extra requirement) and a fast, low-cost model rewrites the prompt text and its fill-in fields to match, right there on the page. You get 5 customizations a month, and the button shows how many you have left; sign in and it’s tracked to your account instead of your network, and Pro removes the limit entirely. You can reset back to the original at any time; nothing is saved or posted anywhere unless you copy it yourself.
Can I post my own prompts?
Yes — sign in and use Compose to post a prompt or fork/reprompt an existing one with attribution. Community posts are unranked at first and subject to the same evidence tracking as curated content.
Can other people see my private prompts?
No. Private prompts (a Pro feature) are only ever visible to you — enforced server-side, not just hidden in the UI.
How do votes and "worked for me" work?
Votes are tagged by the model you ran it with, and bound to the specific version of the content you ran — if the prompt changes later, old votes don’t silently carry over to a version they never validated.
Can I cancel Pro anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime — your posted prompts and saved library stay yours regardless of subscription status.
